Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts in American History and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary (1999). She was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2000 and initially articled at a small criminal defence firm. After completing her articles, Kim moved to a large national firm as an associate lawyer for 6 years where she began working and specializing in employment/labour law and commercial litigation. She then joined the City of Calgary as legal counsel and spent a short time at Suncor Energy.
Since joining Kahane Law Office in 2009, Kim practices primarily in the area of labour and employment law representing employees and employers in such things as wrongful dismissals, severance package reviews, human rights claims, OHS issues and drafting employer policies. She also can assist with labour matters such as grievances and arbitrations under various collective agreements, collective bargaining issues and unionized workplace issues. Additionally, Kim can assist in any real estate transactions and is also a licensed mortgage broker.
Kim has specialized the last 7 years in occupational health and safety law and deals with matters which include defending prosecutions under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Code, drafting and implementing health and safety policies and systems and finally, to conducting comprehensive training of employees on all health and safety related issues. Kim has spoken at numerous national and local conferences on a variety of health and safety issues.
Kim volunteers with Student Legal Assistance at the University of Calgary and in her spare time, is a wife and mom to two great kids!
